Corrosive Ammo Bore Cleaner

I need a simple "home-made" type formula for a corrosive ammo bore cleaner/neutralizer.

  The old G.I. bar soap and hot water (or Octogan bar soap)
  worked well in ww 2 when everything but M-1 carine ammo was
  corrosive. Actually the Military had cans of G.I. bore cleaner
  just for that purpose Not the newer stuff for non corrosive.

  I run hot water down the barrel and then use typical bore cleaner. The soap and water they suggested would be your best bet.

  Follow up with real hot water to dry the barrel and whatever else got wet. Because there is blowby around primers, clean the bolt face and firing pin tip. On semi autos clean up all the gas affected parts and ports.

  Spray with WD-40 at the range. This will delay any problems. Hot water and soap is good but messy. GI bore cleaner is great!

  You did say simple?.............soap and water............they have been doing that effectively for about 200yrs during the black powder era............ok, ok............WINDEX with Ammonia......rinse off with water........dry.......how simple is that......you don't even have to mix the water with the soap..........do follow up with Hoppies solvent then lube

  According to www.surplusrifle.com you'll wanna use windex with ammonia to neutralize the corrosive primers. Have fun shooting
