Field stripping a Star Firestar
A friend of mine has a Star Firestar .40 cal. I have the gun and want to field strip it and clean it. I can't figure out how to break it down. The slide stop lever extends through the frame and their is obviously a notch in the slide for the slide stop to engage and keep the slide back. I can't get the slide stop lever to push out. Is it stuck? Should I use a little more force?, or is their a trick to breaking this gun down? Can someone give me some pointers?

I have a Star Firestar 9MM. Mine has 2 witness marks on the left side of the frame and slide that you have to line up before pushing the take down pin.

On the left rear side of the slide you'll see a small line. There will also be a similar line found on the frame. Pull the slide back until the two lines match up. At that point, push the slide stop lever out from the right side of the gun. Once you have removed the slide stop, the slide will come off and the recoil assembly and barrel will be able to be removed for cleaning. Re-assemble in reverse order. Again make sure to line up the lines before pushing the slide stop back in. 0 -
Thanks
