22 target pistol

I am looking for a 22 auto loading pistol for plinking . Can anyone make a suggestion on what to buy or feedback ?? Thanks Mike

    I am looking to buy a 22 cal semi-auto pistol. Any suggestions? I want something accurate for plinking and shoot varmits for pleasure. What do you think about the Browning Buck Mark? I am not looking to spend too much for it max $350. May even buy a better used one. I shot a Buckmark the other day and liked it.

    The Buckmark is a fine firearm. I am partial to the Ruger MKII. I have a 5 1/2 bull barrel model that I have owned for over 18 years. Quite accurate and fun to shoot. My buddy has a "Slabside" model and it is very accurate and fits your price range.

    I have two votes Ruger, no votes Browning. Anyone own a Browning that would like to comment? Or better yet, anyone have both?

    Ruger...have years of service out of my 22 standard and still a great shooter

    I've shot my KMK678GC against Brownings at silhouette matches, and T/C's as well; the T/C's have an accuracy edge, but they're single-shots. An older member of the Ramslammers shoots an 8-or 10" Browning that's really accurate; or is it him?
    Rugers almost always shoot better than the pistolero wrapped around the grips, so would the Browning; you'll have to decide which way you want to go. Either are easy to hold, aim & shoot; but you'll have to figure out if you want to accessorize with aftermarket stuff and shoot Unlimited, or accessorize with factory stuff and shoot Production for IMHSA or NRA Silhouette (for fame 'n' glory), or just get wild and shoot for fun with your pals.
    The Ruger has a lot of stuff to personalize your MKII, from Volquartsen, Butler Creek, Shlen, McCormack, Hogue, etc., but not much out there for the Browning.
    I chose the Ruger (AND a T/C[:p]) because of my previous experiences with a Security Six, GP-100, MKI, SP101, M-77MKII, Blackhawk, and an old Bearcat; they take abuse/neglect, strip easily, stay accurate after many thousands of rounds, and the price was right compared to like kind firearms at the times of purchase.

    i have 3 brownings 1 5.5 target 2 campers
    so that is 3 votesfor the buck mark[:D]
    i have shot them both ruger and browning the reason i stuck with browning is they fit my hand better and the way the mags release they are both shooters. go to the shop and check the feel and balance .get the one that feels right to you

    I have both. The MKII is stainless and rugged. I take it with me when camping. For target shooting I prefer the Buckmark Target with the Weaver rail and sight hoods. The MkII would probably be as good a target pistol for me if I put a Valquartsen trigger kit, differnt sights and thumbrest stocks on it. Since the Buckmark comes with a good trigger and the other two items out of the box I haven't taken the MKII to it's full potential. As Shootlow said try both and see which one suits you best............Hondo

    I have both the MKII and the Buck Mark they both are fine shooters.
    My personal best is the Buck Mark.....
    Reason being the Browning has a straighter grip than the Ruger which is eased back and not as comfortible for me @ long shooting session.

    i have both, a 10 inch buckmark and an 8 inch bull barreled ruger. the browning has a much better trigger right out of the box. otherwise, they are pretty close. buckmark is a bit more accurate but is also more sensitive to what kind of ammo i use. the ruger will shoot almost anything.

    Beretta model 87 or 89. See them on GB for $510. Used would be in your price range.

    Thanks guys for the responses. Keep them coming. If all it boils down to is feel, I will go with the Browning. It feels much better to me than the Ruger. And in my worthless opinion, I think the Browning is a better looking gun. I own Browning shotguns and really like how they are built. My gut says Browning. I will keep the Beretta in mind though.
