What paint for a synthetic stock?

My kids (under my supervision) are sporterizing a M44 and I told them they could paint the synthetic Advanced Technology stock any way they want. So my question is what is the best type of prep and paint to do this with? They're talking about translucent teal over silver.

  I recently did a wood-like refinish on a Russian auto shotgun with a black plastic stock that came out great . All details and photo on website forum.Saiga-12.com under section Saiga .410 about fourth item down.

  First Rough the stock up with fine grit sandpaper. Be sure all oil is gone from stock.>(wipe with acetone).
  
  Any Good Grade of Spray Paint should do the trick, Krylon or Rustolium = Acrylic Enamel. Don't try and coat it all at once, spray and let dry, spray and let dry. spray and let dry. Then take it out into the Sun and let it bake, spray with cold water and let the sun bake it again, after about three or four Water and Bake trips, the finish will be hard as a rock. (let the sun dry the water, you don't have to dry it off.) [;)]

  Krylon (I think) has been advertising on TV a new paint just for plastic. They claim it bonds to the surface. You may want to check this out.

  Go to krylon.com. It's on the web site the pain is called fusion. Made just for plastic.

  Nooooooo dont sporterize it. Think about all the history behind this weapon. It was used to fight back the Nazis during ww2. Give the gun some justice and enjoy it in its original format.

  Yeeessss this is a fair condition speciman with a decent bore but the rest of it is hammerd. Bought for $50.00, believe me We'll be doing it a favor. My kids know I wouldn't do this to most rifles with history but this one I'm afraid would have been lost or destroyed.

  In my first reply at top of page, I used Krylon 8147 spray can, Ultra Fast Medium Brown at Walmart around $2.
