not sure. never seen one, but I was thinking revolver with cylinder. Like a standard revolver that would fire both at the same time. Thought it would be neat to shoot and was wondering if anything like it exsited. 0 -
I wonder if that would fall under NFA rules.....discharging more than one projectile with a single trigger pull.....???

There are two examples of "double barreled" pistols which I can reference (obscure reference to be sure!). The first is from an unknown Belgian maker which had a twenty round cylinder and stacked barrels. the cylinder chambers were arranged in two rings and the pistol fired alernately from the upper and lower barrels. The other exercise in over engineering award winner is a French design. This nightmare has a 21 round cylinder with 14 chambers in the outer and 7 chambers in the inner ring. When you fired the pistol a round from the outer ring fired fist, followed by a round from the inner ring (lower of the two barrels) and then back to the outer ring (upper barrel). This alternated firing continued until all 21 rounds had been fired.
The idea behind these double barreled pistols was to allow an large number of rounds to be contained in the revolving cylinder without resrting to a huge diameter cylinder. Imagine the size of a cylinder containing 21 rounds in one ring. If you use two O/U barrels you can shrink the size of the cylinder by 50% by using an inner and outer ring of cartridges. Need less to say this double barrel revolver idea did not catch on and the firearms world does not seem to a have suffered because of it.

The LeMat is a two barrel revolver, although not firing rounds from the cylinder through both barrels. Lewis Wynant describes several two barrel revolvers in Firearms Curiosa and several are illustrated with pictures. And the following chapter of the book features two cylinder revolvers, which are stranger still.

Seems to me that Pancho Villa carried one of these Pistola's just discribed..A very Dear Friend Now Departed, 'John Pickering' from Cottonwood, Arizona had one of these Monstrositys in His Collection..His was Pistol Cartridges on the Outer Ring and Shotgun on the inner Ring...don't recall how many rounds it carried or the Guage....As for Pancho's Pistola, I'm sure someone out there will come up with a Photo of it...I believe He's standing in front of an old automobile....I REMEMBER IT NOW...IT WAS IN THE 'CAVERN' IN NOGALES, MEXICO...hanging on the Wall with a bunch of other Photos...For those that never heard of the CAVERN...It was an old PRISON hued out of the Mountain across the Tracks Due East of the Mexican Rail Road Depot and the Calaboose..The Mexican Government built a new prison. Someone bought the Cavern and turned into a Restruant.......

Belgium must be home to the strange, another double barreled gun from there was a side by side barrel setup with a 12 capacity cylinder. Both barrels fired at the same time, one got six double shots, could get drunk quicker that way I guess. 0
