Gun Blueing Touch up?

I tried touching up the blueing on my Glock 21 & failed horribly. I used one of those touch up pens, & now it looks horrible. I think I can probably strip it off but am wondering if there is some product for touching up matte black guns. Any reccomendations?

Mine is looking shinny. [V]

  Drobs check with Der Gebirgsjager, he is experienced with bluing and knows that part of gunsmithing pretty well.

  Glocks have a Tenifer Finished it is not blued. You may try stripping it and powder coating. Just not sure how powder coats hold up.

  Hey drobs! The reason that it looks bad on your Glock 21 is because it isn't blued. Glock manufacturing uses a unique finishing process. They apply a Tenifer finish to the metal and then apply a black oxide finish on top of that. As the black oxide finish wears, the tenifer finish is exposed. It appears as a polished dull type metal. The tenifer is still protecting the metal it is merely cosmetic wear. The Tenifer finish is one of the best. On the Rockwell "C" scale the tenifer finish measures just slightly softer than a diamond. The finish actually penetrates and coats. Glock will refinsh the slide for you for around $40. You can contact them at 770-432-1202 or fax at 770-433-8719. This is the Smyrna Georgia factory.   SIR: The way to "Touch Up" your Glock acetone to clean and 44-40, which gives a Parkerized Color and texture, (but don't use 44-40 on a Bright Blue Gun). Works perfect on the Top of a 1911 slide that is Satin Black with High Polish Blue Sides. [;)] (ps; I thought all Glocks looked like Hell anyway, multi color splotches would be an improvement!)[:0]

  Drobs, if I remember correctly you can send the gun back to Glock and they'll reapply Tenifer for around $40. How'd you chew up the finish? I've beat/shot the hell out of my G21 and it almost doesn't look new now after five years of daily carry. Very tough finish.[:D]

  Thanks gentlemen, I'll give glock a call and see what the going rate is.
  
  Joe, I traded the Glock 21 for a S&W 686+ for a long term test. Call it a year, came back with a couple scratches. Had a really big gouge on the top near the ejector port when it came back.
  
  I figured hey I try to touch it up with this felt marker thing. Not a good idea especially under the influence of alcohol.

  Drobs, if you get in a pinch, send me the slide. I got some black oxide solution and can burn some on. It looks like tenifer but isn't quite as durable (obviously)[:D] I've done a few damaged Glocks and its a near dead match.

  I hosed the slide down with Gun Scrubber, took that glossy black stuff I put on there right off.

  Now wait a minute Guys! I thought "GLOCKS" were indistructible? I had a friend that owned a Gun Store, he swore by Glock, told about 5 of us just how tough it was, = Unloaded it an tossed it into the floor among us. The Thing flew into about 6 pieces. "Glocks" are like dating an Ugly Woman = Good for kicks and giggles but you shoot it at night, so your buddys don't rib you about it. [:o)]
