Bulgarian AKs
I have a couple of questions about the Bulgarian AKs I've seen at the atlantic firearms site. First of all, are they good quality rifles,ie good buys? Second of all, how accurate are AKs in general, can you hit targets accurately at 300m with them? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the site, it's almost an info overload! I think I will go with the Bulgarian AK 74, but I'm not sure about the availability of the 5.45x39 round, or mags for the rifle. Does anybody here know this? 0 -
Ammo and mags are a little less common than their 7.62x39 counterparts, but they are available and rather inexpensive. Check Shotgun News or [url}www.cdnninvestments.com[/url] for mags.

Unless this is a milled receiver type weapon I think its about $100 too high ... but thats me ...

It's hard to say from the add, but those are my thoughts too kimber. Do you know where I could get that same rifle elsewhere? 0 -
I clicked on the Gunsnet site as posted and got a notice from their admin. saying that my IP address was banned! What exactly does this mean and what could I have done to offend a site I'd never even heard of before? Southern Ohio Gun is selling Bulgarian AK's with the milled receiver for $479.95 (item # AK-SLR101SB). For another $20 you can have olive green furniture. I've visited the Arsenel Factory in Bulgaria and they make fine firearms there.

Wow Mark, thats really unfair! That means you haven't seen this pic of some of the board members that went to Russia and gave Mikhail Kalashnikov a Guns Network ball cap and T-shirt and made him an Honorary member ... Just cause he invented the durn thing ... go figure!

Cool, so what do you think of the SSR-74-2 and the SSR-85C-2 at the global trades site? They said the prices are not finalized yet, but project around $500 for the SSR-74-2. So whudaya think? Or, I saw that SOG had SAR-1's for sale at $280. Opinions, anyone? 0 -
I just bought a SAR 3 223 for $345.00 out the door. Fired it yesterday. The thing is fun to shoot. The brass gets abused and I did have one case split in two about 1/2" up from the rim. This is with the Israeli made Winchester 55gr. I think I will try some of the Wolf steel cased ammo and see how that does. If I get another split case I will send the gun back for a refund.
The gun is enough fun to be worth keeping if I can be sure it is safe. The workmanship leaves a LOT to be desired but the critical parts seem ok.
I checked out the Bulgarian Arsenal's Sunday at a gunshow and they definitely make the Romanian gun look like a piece of crap. You get what you pay for.
