10367457 a S&W #3, Phoney or real?

Auction 1036747 is listed as a S&W number three 44 russian, however the trigger gaurd is no like other number threes, the trigger sets in the middle of the gaurd instead of at the rear. I believe it to be a foriegn copy and sent the seller a email and told him my concerns. He asnswered and said that the gaurd was original. I sent another email asking him to compare it to the pictures of other #3s on other auctions, however, it caame back, appearently he blocked my address.
What do you think?

  Chances are it's Belgian, many similar revolvers are shown in Zhuk's book. (Short extractor housing and double action trigger).
  He notes that, "Revolvers of this type were popular with Russian army officers, as they were lighter, handier and could fire faster then the standard single-action S & W "Russian Model" service revolver".

  The seller says: "This revolver has never had any barrel markings."
  
  That, and the wrong trigger guard and trigger position, pretty much nails this down as a copy.....and as Rufe says, most likely a Belgian.
  
  The Belgians, and later, the Spanish, made a lot of S&W copies.

  Since it does not appear to have the Liege proofmark in usual place on rear cylinder face, I'd suspect it's Spanish (out of Mexico?)

  If the seller blocked your address and won't answer questions, run, don't walk, away from this deal.

  I feel sorry for they guy that has bid on this believeing that it's a Smith. I don't know how to let him know if he doesn't read this.
