A friend of mine has a Hensoldt 6X with a 42mm Obj.Diameter and 26mm tube manufactured in the 1950's. It has wording which reads "Hensoldt-Wetziar Diatal-D and has a Serial Number of 148XXX. It's in fine condition. Any idea of its value?

That is not enough information on the model to be precise, but somewhere between $100 and $350 depending upon what model it is.

My heros have always killed cowboys.

dtbsage, The book Old Rifle Scopes by Nick Stroebel lists a Hensoldt Diatal D 6X with a value of $250 to $325. It was manufactured from 1958 to 1968. The price of this scope in 1959 was $89. For comparison the Lyman All American 6X was priced at $59.50 and the Bausch and Lomb Balsix was priced at $75. These prices are from the 1959 Gun Digest. The Hensoldt was a premium quality scope.

Does anyone know if Hensoldt 4x scope has the same value as Hensoldt Diatal 6x scope? What value claw mount would add? In Germany claw mount for rifles or drillings would start at 500 Euro (both ends - gun and scope) and go up depending on the gun.
