Walther P22 Question

I recently bought a Walther P22 with the 5 inch barrel and I have noticed the the compensator wiggles form side to side slightly (about 1/8") is this normal? If not what can be done about it?

    Does anyone know if the compensator on the 5" barreled model can be removed to expose the barrel underneath? I dont like the looks of the compensator, but if i bought one i would want the 5" barrel. I think it would look better without the comp and just 2 inches of exposed barrel.

    Im thinking of trading in another .22 pistol of mine straight up for a p22 but i want at least 5" of barrel but without the comp.

    My dealer said they dont make them in 5" without the comp, and he didnt have one in stock to check with. Does anyone know?

    "NOW" we both know.
    I took the short barrel out, replaced it with the long barrel and put the long barrel sleeve on followed by the barrel nut-"WITHOUT THE COMP"!!!
    Yes, it does look kind of neat.
    Took it out the back door and put a magazine full through it-just to know it's okay.
    Worked perfect.
    So now, instead of using the short barrel with my "Registered" silencer-I'm going to use the longer barrel-and not install the Comp.
    As I said, Now we both know.

    Yes, I have seen it done, looks kinda neat huh.
    There are no problems doing it, I talked to S&W directly. They said it was just for show and did not matter if it was on or off.

    Hey thanks Spring Creek! Nice of you to take 'er apart and test it. Looks like i'll be making a trade pretty soon, straight up my spare S&W model 22 with some add ons for a Walther.

    I didnt know anyone made a suppressor for the P22, sounds like itd be pretty neat though. How quiet is that thing with the can on it? I wish Illinois allowed ownership of suppressors......ah well. Thanks again.

    Like I say, "now we both know".
    Regarding the Silencer for the P22.
    You can go to the GemTech sight and it'll show the
    "Outback" model. That's what I bought for the P22 and other 22's I have that are threaded 1/2 x 28tpi.
    GemTech makes a neat little adapter that replaces the "Barrel Nut" on the P22 and converts it to 1/2 x 28tpi thread pattern.
    Neat little invention.
    I'm still "experimenting" with different ammo to get the quietest.
    The Aquilla SSS (Super Sub Sonic) has power and is fairly quiet.
    But, interestingly I've found a Winchester Dynapoint 40gr is the quietest I've tried yet.
    I've just got involved in the "Silencer" thing the last 6 months and have bought one for my Browning Hi-Power, the 22 Outback and one for my UZI SMG.........
    I never wanted to be "Scrutinized" before and then decided-What the Hell? I have a clean record and I want a SMG and I want some silencers.
    So...I now know the "drill" when I go to the Sheriff's Office to get my fingerprinting done.

    Does your P22 eat the Aquilla SSS OK? Mine tends to mis-feed. I'm using the round of course because of the Gem Tec. My thoughts are the round is nose heavy and the lead being soft, tends not to follow the ramp and jams. Any other thoughts? Regular rounds seem to feed fine.

    "Do Much"?
    Does "Nothing" other than look "Like" a "Compensator"!
    The "Venting" is Superficial, ie. It is just for looks as there is no Porting of the barrel.
    Again, Looks nice and adds some muzzle weight; which is no big deal in a 22LR pistol.
    As for being a "Scam"!!!!
    No, a "Scam" was Bubba Klinton pretending to be a U.S. President!

    ADDENDUM for cbxjeff:
    I too have a Gem Tech "Outback" and "Sea Hunter" Suppressor and use the SSS Aquila.
    Never a feed problem........Yet.

    Even "Brain Surgery" is Easy, If you know HOW!
