Hey Jman, check out the Sportsman's Guide website or Cheaper Than Dirt's website for the Ruger holster, as far as using blackpowder during a rifle hunt; you'll have to check with the Game & Fish/Conservation agency that puts out the Proclamation/Information booklet for your area. I'm pretty sure that in NM, you can use any legal sporting arms to take big game during a rifle hunt; but why would you want to handicap yourself to a blackpowder rifle and its' problems?

the only reason i would use it is if i cant buy a rifle befor i go on my trip. the only other alternitive is a songle shot 30-30 or a arisaca 308 with a .313 barrel diamiter.

The Ruger mark I or II standard pistol with a 4' barrel will fit nicely in an old stlye 1911 military flap holster.

Your second question: Check with your state conservation department, most states now have websites and you can read their laws online. I know that in Minnesota it is legal to use a muzzle loading rifle during the regular firearms season for deer but the law may be different in another state.

If you ain't got a sense of humor you got no business bein here!

505 is correct about NM you can use a bp rifle in centerfire season. That likely varies by state. try:

Then check the Arizona Department of deer & elk website. I can do it from here, but I don't hunt AZ.
The 30-30 has taken more game than almost any other cartridge; if you only have one shot-make it count!
