High Standard Duramatic

My High Standard duramatic jams very frequntly. I've tried new amo with poor results still. Any ideas?

  First thing to do is clean it well, then I would look at the magazine. Had the same problem with my uncles m101 and it turned out to be the mag (just bent the lips back in a little at the front of the mag, they were letting the cart sit up a little too high in the front.

  With any Autoloader: First Clean then look at the mag (and often mags are made to take apart and clean also). But WM69 is right on Target, 50% of the Time it's dirt, 40% of the time it's the Clip holding too long or releasing too quick. should be easy to discern by pointing the thing toward a backstop (mother-in-laws seem to do well for this application), pull the slide back and start a cartridge forward - if the cartridge heads uo before contacting the chamber (squeeze the front guides together a little; as WM69 proscribed, if it holds the cartridge too long and make it hit the ramp, open it a little. Assuming the "Hangup" is on Feed. If on extraction check the extractor or the stop at the end of stroke (which pushes the empty to the right). Could be a weak spring in the slide but doubtful. Could be the extractor needs replacing or defining with a small, thin Pippen File. [;)]

  Liktoshoot is right. H-S will function dirty all day but they will not with a junk/aftermarket magazine.

  make sure the grips are tight. since duramatics dont have a frame, the grips act as the mag well. if the mag well is loose, the mag could be lining up with the action wrong. that would be the next place to look.

  go over to www.highstandard.com and search for the mag lip adj specs. I had the same problem with my duramatic and adj the lips to specs and it runs perfect now.
