which 308 surplus do i want ?

for plinking with my savage bolt action, i'm going to get some surplus ammo. after some research, i've setted on these 2.. do you guys prefer the south african or portugese 7.62 \ .308 ? thanks

  Either one should be fine, there is also some really good austalian surplus coming in sometime this summer that the CMP is supposedly buying a bunch of (supposed to be the REALLY good stuff). All of this stuff is getting harder to find at good prices. Stay away from the Indian stuff; it's junk. Check out FAL.com or AR15.com for ammo reviews...

  nebrguy,,,,, I have used both of the .308 you mentioned in my M1A.
  They are both reliable, clean burning ammo.
  I have also used them for competition, with good results.
  
  They are reasonably low priced if you buy a 1000 rd case, and some sellers pay the shipping, which makes a big difference.

  I use the SA ammo all the time in .223, very good ammo! .308 is as good. Getting hard to find now. I do shoot the Portugese a lot and I like it, clean ammo too.[:)]

  thanks people for the feedback..i ordered a south african, 140 rd. battle pack from AIM to try. if all goes well i'll lay in a bunch..thanks again.

  Israeli .308 147gr. FMJ. In my view better than US Factory stuff.
  Bought 200 rounds for my Std. M1A, tried it. and bought a case. from cheaperthandirt.com it will pull 1/2"- 3/8" at 100 yrds. [:)]
