Winchester 1884
I was going through my grandfather's gun collection and discovered a Winchester Model 1884 lever action chambered for 25-20. Serial #788687. It has an octagonal barrel approximately 23" in legth. The gun is in pretty good condition. I was wondering if someone could give me a ballpark figure on value and maybe when it was produced.

Taurus....your rifle is actually a Winchester model 1892 and it was made in 1915. It probably has a 24" barrel if you measure from the muzzle end to the breech end. Value depends heavily on condition with other factors like caliber all important. Could range anywhere from $500 to $2000. A shot out bore will drag the price down. If yours is in "good" condition it will probably be in the $700-$1000 range. Very rough guess without seeing the rifle.
25-20 WCF is very fun to shoot and ammo is still available.
