Flint Lock Question??....
..what are AGATE flints, can they damage the frizzen?????

Depends on the hardness of the metal. No immediate danger, though. You'll see the signs if you look carefully.

Almost forgot... Agate is just that. Most flints are chert. Not quite as hard as agate.0 -
The sparks created by the flint, whatever kind, are tiny, white hot particles of the frizzen that are scraped off in the operation of the lock. Thus, any type of flint "damages" the frizzen to some extent, tho as "nord" said, no immediate danger. A quality frizzen should last several thousand strikes, and you can reharden or re-sole the frizzen to restore it. Emery
