    anybody know any good tricks to remove this stuff from a rifle and the stock without damaging the finish?

    John - Our gun cleaner will take off cosmoline easily and completly. I believe some other members on the forum have used it for this so you might here from them too.

    There were some good answers on this subject posted a couple weeks ago. Go to the search and look for cosmoline. I can't remember all the suggestions, but I remember some sounded like they would work well.

    Yep. Mineral spirits. It dissolves the cosmoline and does nothing to the finish on the metal or the wood. If you can, put the whole thing into a tank of mineral spirts and leave it there for 24 hours. Then use a plastic bristled brush to clean it off. If you have access to a parts washer and its solvent, same thing.
