Colt Display Model

I have a Colt display model, Civil War Centennial. Any idea how common or rare? It is like the ones sold to the public, except it carries no serial number, is mounted on a walnut frame with a bronze plaque with the following: Genuine Civil War Centennial Produced by Colt's Patent Fire Arms Co.; Inc. Hartford Conn.

The revolver itself, is a copy of an Army model 1860, but in 7/8 scale.

I acquired the item some 20 years ago from a lady who had worked at B.E. Hodgdon's.

My assumption have always been that it was used as an advertisement to promote sales of the l961 Commeratives.

Have you ever seen or heard of them before? Any idea as to value?

  "Colt Memorabilia" is an item all its own. Among such things classified as such are, display models, (such as yours), counter mats, belt buckles, both Factory Presentation and Commemorative, along with several different Logo'd products. These items all fall into an area of collecting which is unique to these items. Doesn't mean that gun collectors aren't Memorabilia collectors also.
  
  I understand there are now some Catalogs being published that list values for "Memorabilia" from Colt as well as other Manufacturers. I am not familiar enough to give you a name of one. I would suggest you attempt to find a history of "sold items" on such as E-Bay and see if you can find something like it that has sold in the past. This item is not a "common" thing and therefore might have little or considerable value to a "Colt Memorabilia Collector," especially one with deep pockets. Good Luck!
