Tommy Gun Part Question

(see link above) What is this? I have NEVER seen anything like this before for a Tommy Gun. Anyone have any background info on one of these things? Anyone own a REGISTERED one? Anyone know where I can get a REGISTERED one for less than $4995? I'd be interested in getting a REGISTERED one if the price was right (round $1500, yeah I'm cheap but that's still a lot to pay for a piece of metal and it would still cost more because of the $200 tax and yearly tax). How does it work? Just by looking at it I can tell it's some type of firing pin... but does it just replace the existing pin and make the weapon full auto? The semi- versions are closed bolt. Does this thing somehow convert them to open-bolt? I am a Tommy Gun enthusiast and would like some more info. The main reason I am asking this is because I'm hoping to find someone who actually has this device and I would like them to tell me how well it works before I go through all the hassle and spend all the money to get one. I figure it might be a lot cheaper (there's that magic word again) than buying a F/A Thompson. Thanks!

I believe KHAR ARMS (moonys) bought "Thompson = Auto Ordinance", which Jimmy Thompson started "Auto Ordinance" in 1921. These Guns show up In News Papers "FOR SALE" By Sheriffs Depts, and Police Depts. High Bid, usually goes for about $2500 - $3700. They are the Ogiginals and can be purchased but only received after the Tax Stamp is Purchased. I am sure one can be found "OnLine" and Look under Class D. [;)]

1927 Thompsons are specifically designed so as to be impossible to convert to full auto. Have never heard of the part, but it looks like junk. The tax you refer to is one time only, not yearly. Today a full auto will sell for a minimum of $7000.00. NOT CHEAP. But you may find it not worth it to buy the part you show and try to make it work.
