Two Rugers
i have a ruger 10/22 and i noteced when you take of the scope rail on it it has 4 holes in the top, can those be used to mount a scope with out a rail? also i have a ruger pistol that i think is a standerd but i am not sure, the only things it says on it are. sturm ruger & co. southport, conn. usa. on the same side it has the number 186692. on theother side it says, ruger 22 cal. long rifle automatic pistol. on the pistol i would also like to know about how much it is worth and about how much it would cost to get it reblued, have the feeding ramp smothed out, and polished.

Welcome to the forum!
Dont know about your pistol, but as far as the 10/22 mount goes, Weaver makes inexpensive see-through rings that screw directly to the reciever using the four holes you mentioned. They can be found at most any Wal-Mart or K's Merchandise store. Other than rings of this sort i think the mount must be installed to put a scope on the gun. Hope this helps!0 -
Yo, J; does the charging handle have scalloped areas on both sides at the rear of the receiver? if not; it's a MKI standard.
Before you go polishing the feed ramp; give it a good cleaning & see if that doesn't help. Also, does the grip insignia have a black or red eagle? That'll help define when it was made, since after Sturm died; Rugers have had black insignia.
If you know it all; you must have been listening.WEAR EAR PROTECTION!0 -
Your pistol is a Ruger Standard model made in 1960 or 1961 by Your serial number.Contact Ruger and they can pin it down even closer. This pistol unless NEW IN BOX is worth about $125.00 to $150.00 if in good condition. There is still alot of them around so the value is not that great.I would contact Ruger also about rebluing it and alot of times Ruger will replace any worn parts free of charge for safetys sake.
I own a bucket full of them and love em all. They will still be around when We are eating dinner with Elvis and Grandma.

I put a call in to Ruger last winter about rebluing a Blackhawk cost for it was $75 plus shipping , I'm would think your Mark I would be about the same maybe less.
if your Mark I isn't in to bad of shape you may want to try touching up the bluing with 'Blue Wonder gun blue its great stuff and all you need is a little work and a hair dryer, for more info on Blue Wonder go over to the general discussion board , there has been many topics about it over the last few months, just click on the search and type in blue wonder , it should bring up all old post .
your 1022 has 4 holes in the top of the receiver for mounting the scope rail on it , Ruger ships these rifles with a 3/4" rail for 22 type scope mounts but any good gun shop will have a weaver type 1" rail for using standard 1" rings, spend the $7 for the 1" rail and use the better rings , also if you put the 1" rail on it then mounting a red dot scope is a piece of cake0 -
first the eagle on the grip is not red or or black, it is silver. what do you mean by scalloped? i have cleaned the ramp a few times before but it is all scratched and pitted. the gun got all rusted over once and we had to take and get all the rust off and then reblue it, but the blueing job my dad did looks pretty bad. also i have one more ?. a lot of times when i try to put a fresh mag in it, it goes in about half way and stops. a round will pop out of the mag, and it will do this four or five times. got any idea whats wrong? 0 -
The scalloped area he is refering to is just in front of the charging handle. The older mark1s had a round receiver where the newer ones are tapered in this area.
As for the magazine, sounds like the pistol has been squeezed a little in the grip area, making it hard to push the magazine in and causing the top round to pop out.
Might be a good idea to send it to Ruger or have it checked out by a competant gun smith to see if he can free the magazine well up.

I think bolthandle is right about the grip frame maybe is pinched.I have one that is also pinched,so I am searching for a extra grip frame.I only paid $65.00 for it a couple of years ago.If I cannot find a extra A54 frame,it will be used as a parts gun.
