Black Hills Ammo

They advertise a .308 with a 168 gr. JBTHP. Price for new ammo is more reasonable than most of the stuff from the majors.

A - Anyone use their ammo? Opinions?

B - Does anyone know if they manufacture their own bullets or do they use, say, Sierra, for example, in this 168 gr. round?

C - Checked their web site and could not come up with an e-mail address. Anyone have it?

  I use Black Hills .223 with 52 and 68 grain match ammo for competition. The 52 and 68 grain bullets are made by Hornady.
  
  They perform superbly, with results as good or better than Federal match and Remington match.
  Black Hills makes outstanding ammo.
  
  They also load a 77 gr .223 Sierra Matchking- moly coated for the Marine Rifle team. I have shot some of this, and it is accurate and reliable.

  I have to echo what Laredo Lefty said Bought some for my 25-06 100gr NBT. I will take Black hills ammo over the others anytime! reliable,accurate,and hard hitting!

  I have used the exact ammo that you are asking about and found it to be extremely accurate. If I remember correctly the bullet they use in that load is the Sierra Matchking.

  They Manufacture ammo for the USMC, if it's good enough for them then it's good enough for me.

  I can't speak to their .308 and I can't speak well enough of their .223 ammo. Highly consistent loads. I shoot 50 gr. Vmax and 52 gr. match ammo in my Les Baer Super Varmint Master and have had amazing results. I shot the group below a few weeks ago at the range, on a rest, at 200 yards with 50 gr. Vmax. Call it luck (and it probably was), but the Black Hills ammo was head and shoulders above the Hornady and Remington ammo I shot the same day.

  .308 168 HPBT Match - Should give 5 rounds at appx, 1/2 to 5/8ths at 200yds from the bench, with a Variety of Rifles, Remington PSS, Savage 12vbss, the A-Bolt Browning w/Boss, Savage Tactical (with Choate Stock and trigger help), there are some expensive .308 Tacital Types that will do the same, but no more.
  
  I have never shot the Black Hills ammo, Probably never will. I had considered carrying the Black Hills in Stock a few years back, but found them to be too expensive.
  
  I load right from the U.S. Military Marksmanship Teams List. Exception: I add one grain of IMR 3031, over the Military Listing, because of Molycoating. I believe the Load would be 41 grain of IMR 3031 MolyCoated - Remington 9.5 or Federal 210 primer. Using Lee, Collet Dies, and seating a Sierra 168 HPBT Match or the Hornady 168 Polymer .308 Match Moly (from the Factory) Projectile. I personally can't tell much difference at 400 Yds and they crono about the same.
  
  Two exceptional Rifles I have shot would be: The Savage Sharpshooter .308 and the 16 & 20 " Armalite 10-A or the 10-A4. The Savage Sharpshooter shoots as easily as any Rifle could be expected too, the Remington PSS, will shoot just as well, but takes more consentration. The Armalite = Is nothing short of Amazing, no recoil, (I'm serious), Accuracy that will rival any Bolt Action. With a 24x Weaver (Fine Crosshair), and the Rounds I referred too, Bi-pod, from the Bench = 5/8ths consistant at 200 yds. I did add the Bushmaster 2 stage trigger and it hit about 1 lb crisp.
  
  PS: Clear the Bench before shooting (or it will clean it for you).
  One other thing: Someone said "Practice; The more you shoot = the better you shoot" This is not necessarly so! It is easy to Learn wrong as it is to learn RIGHT. When Possible: Shoot with Someone that Can Really Shoot, and never compromise. At least you will know what your competition is and where you need to go. And "GOOD SHOOTING" my Friends.
