Bersa Pistols - Info wanted
Anyone out there have any experience with Bersa handguns? Looking at getting a medium framed .380 for concealed carry when my 1911 would be just "too much." Will they handle +P loads...hollow point ammo? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I owned a Bersa Model 83 .380 about 13 years ago and liked the little pistol quite a bit. Since it used a steel frame it was heavier than its competitors but I felt that it offered good handling and I especially liked the stippled walnut grips that my pistol came with. About my only real complaint was that the magazine button was very stiff and not easy to reach. I fired mostly FMJ but did shoot some Federal 90gr. JHP and Remington 88gr. JHP with no problems that I can recall. These were nice little pistols and were quite a bit less money than anything else on the market at that time (Walther PP and SIg/Sauer P230). Not long after I bought mine the Hungarian FEG pstols hit the market at rock bottom pricing and the Bersa's sort of faded from the scene. I sold my example many years ago and am rather sorry that I did as I never saw another with such fine wood grips!

I have two Bersa's in .380 and have fired one. It was fine. I more recently got one of the wood-gripped .380's from a friend, who said he fired it and liked it. Good but a bit bigger: the Baretta Cheetah.
Small for the caliber and well-recommended, the Fire Storm mini-40 and Fire Storm mini-45, both now made by Bersa.0 -
Love my Thunder 380. Carry it daily. Inexpensive, but NOT cheap by any means.
Taxation WITH representation isn't so hot either!0 -
Thanks for all the info...it felt nice in my hand, slide worked smoothly, mag release was crisp, trigger could be better...and if I have to make my own HP ammo..well..what the hell. [:D] Guess I'll go plunk down the coins and let the feds do the danged check. <sigh>

I carry a Thunder .380 on a daily basis. It has over 500 rds through it without any problems. Perfect for every day carry, light, slim and if it gets some holster wear marks who cares. It's not like you spent a fortune on it. And the BEST part it fires everytime and hits what I'm pointing it at. Best kept secret around is this little Bersa. My next gun will be a Bersa .45 not because of the price but because of the quality of my little .380. 0 -
I ALMOST bought one to replace my 380 AMT Backup, but someone offered me a great price on a new PPK/S, which is slimmer and machined beautifully.
The owner of a local gun shop, big guy with larger hands, swears by the Bersa, although he is going to a Para Companion or CCW, so he says ...0 -
Looked into the best 380s awhile back. As rec. w/ any gun make sure that they fit your hand well. Have tried different hollow points & handled them all fine. High quality & reliable.
