Ruger #1 value

How much would a pre-warning (made around '73 according to serial number)Ruger #1 light sporter in .270 WIN be worth? This rifle is in pristine, and I mean pristine, condition with a 1-4 Leupold Vari X - II scope.

  I'll hazard a quess based on a purchase I recently made, a recent trip to a gun shop in Daytona Beach and a recent trip to a gun show in DeLand, Florida. Prices maybe different in other areas. I bought a .270 #1 AB model in excellent condition made in the late 1970's that had a 3-9x40mm Leupold Vari X II scope for $550.00. I offered the gentleman $500.00 and he started putting the rifle back in its case. Once I agreed to pay his price, he threw in a carry case, three or four boxes of quaility ammo and a custom leather(fancy)sling. I was pleased. I saw a #1 B in .243 in OK condition with no scope but with Ruger rings and red recoil pad for $425.00 in the local gun shop. At the last gun show I saw an older unscoped #1 B in 6mm in great condition with the prettiest wood I had ever seen for $600. The wood had been refinished and sealed with a real shiney varnish or polyeurethane. Had the wood had a different finish, I think I would have bought it. In this area there is not a lot of difference between the pricing of the A and B models. Hope this helps some

  Sounds about right to me, the Early Ruger #1 will bring no more than a late Ruger #1, of course the Leupold will push the price up some.
