Probably unmarked... Full & modified or I/C. Check the chamber length as your gun is probably not designed for modern ammo lengths. This can cause overpressure and will affect patterning.

My experience with Elcee's has been that the left barrel will pattern quite tightly. The right will be somewhat more open and measure somewhere between modified and I/C, though the pattern will still be far from open.

These are upland guns and don't require magnum loads to do the job for which they were intended. Treat her nicely. She's earned some respect over the many years since she left Ithaca.

Thanks, nord. Two and three-quarter inch shells seem to fit the chambers just fine. After I get it checked out thoroughly, I was planning on trying it with some lowbase, light loads on some of our SD pheasants this fall. Hope I don't have to invest in a tweed jacket and English hunting boots to take it afield.

The only way to know for sure is to measure the amount of constriction.

Go hear these guys know more about those old doubles than I can ever hope to forget.
