I am tring to get a value on a NB Davis & Sons Double Barrell Shotgun. I think the gun is antique but have no idea the year, I cant find any numbers on the gun. Any information will be helpful.

  Welcome to the FORUMS Scott; Before an answer can be tendered it will be necessary for you to give a WHOLE BUNCH more information on Grampa's Shotgun.....! Gonna need a COMPLETE and TOTAL discription..Every LETTER, NUMBER and MARK...Where located...Need to Know PRECISELY where each and every letter and Number is on Wood and Metal. Need Gauge, Need to know Patent Date,Whats the Condition of the Wood and Metal and Bores....Every little piece of information can and will be of help...Need to Know the Quality of the Engraving...where it begins and where it Ends...Photo's would be nice if available!.....Nothing is not good enough....Pretend your Sherlock Holmes...Each and every little Tidbit is Most important in obtaining a solution to the Question You Ask.....I/We await your pleasure.....Best.....

  You have either a 1894 (most likely) or 1900 Remington double with damascus tubes. Damascus is considered to be somewhat less desirable than ordnance, but neither are really strong enough for today's loads.
  
  Model numbers define the years of manufacture pretty closely. The '94 from then to 1900. The 1900 from 1900 to 1910. The serial will get you even closer, but I don't have those on hand.
  
  While not considered a shooter, these guns are by no means junk. If in good condition they're appreciated by collectors and used by black powder types. The later steel barrels will take smokeless loads of the proper length, but I'd probably not impose that kind of stress on the old gun.
  
  Give the old girl a nice coat of oil and cherish the history it evokes. Though the gun has monetary value, it's history is worth much more.
