S&W md 37 Refinish
I have a model 37 Smith. The mechanics are great, but the finish has had it..I was thinking of having it refinished in a brushed nickel or something with more durability..Suggestions of finishes and companies that do a nice job would be appreciated..Thanks

The frame of the M37 is aluminum alloy, and that can't be plated; you can only plate ferrous metal (like steel). Besides, plating adds thickness to steel, and that could cause problems when re-assembling the gun, especially the side plate fit.
S&W has a proprietary process for coating aluminum that looks a lot like brushed stainless steel, and they produce several models that combine both. They do not have any model with a carbon steel cylinder or barrel that is matte nickle plated, but they might be able to do that for you.
I suspect that the cost of this project will come close to the cost of a new S&W. If it were mine, I'd sell it & buy a used M60.
