    volquartsen also makes replacement barrels they are also quite expensive although you might contact them and get them to sell you one they have taken off another ruger, they do customizing on mark II's so may have an original bull barrel laying around it will not hurt to ask

    You might check to see how you could trade for a bull barrel model. With the price of a barrel, and the gunsmith costs for installation, it may be cost effective to simply trade.

    And as inexpensive as the MKII's are now days, you might want to just buy one...and keep the old MKI. A guy can't have too many guns, you know.

    The slab-sided barrel model (Competition) is pretty much a custom gun out of the box with a great barrel, decent trigger and excellent sights. It would probably be cheaper to get one of those than to do a custom job.
