Did the crossed cannons and inspectors initials on the Springfield Garand stocks get applied in one motion or were they seperate stamps ? ALSO would like to know if done separately, were the crossed cannons always to one particular side of the inspectors initials ? Thank you for your response (s).

  The final acceptance marks and the facility/inspector marks were stamped separately, both on the left side of the stock below the rear sight. As this was done by hand, there are many variations in exact location. There may be multiple facility/inspector marks on a stock, but the initial marks will usually be to the left of the final acceptance mark.
