A Ak is an Ak, machined to loose tolorences, either in sheet metal or billet machined recievers.
They keep working like the "Lil Enegizer Bunny", throw it in the sand leave it there for a month, pick it up and it will work.
Dont try that with your AR-15.
The SAR is a Rominain copy of the Russian AK, using the same machines to make them.
In other words an AK is a AK.
Buy it you will be VERY happy, make sure it will take the double stack AK mags. Do not buy the WASR version, which takes the single stack mags!

Was out shooting my SAR1 yesterday. Great gun! Everyone should have one. It's one of those guns that will work everytime.

My SAR 1 AK-47 is the ugliest gun I have ever owned but it shoots every time trigger is pulled. I put OD green stock and forend on it and helped the looks of it.

I have one too. You ask about "quality"--mine is one of the earlier imported ones and the finish is rougher than some of the more recent imports. The reliablility of an AK is there whether it is "pretty" or not.
I love the thing--I just wish real (full auto) AK's could be imported; I'd REALLY LOVE to own one of those.

Rough finish, scratched blueing, very rough looking, but after about 1000 rounds through it it has jammed exactly twice. Reliability is its' strong point, as well as just being fun to have and shoot. Be sure to get at least a couple 30 round mags while you can, they may be hard to get in the future, as well as the gun itself. 0 -
Wonderful guns, mine hasn't jammed/misfired yet and is rather accurate for an AK. I'm quite fond of a lot of Romanian rifles, the accuracy tends to be better than most Soviet stuff.
Love them Beavers

I like my SAR-1, although there were a few "failure-to-feed" early on. I was using very light German plastic core loads (I had a lot of it laying around), and it seems that with the new action and the light loads, there just wasn't enough power to fully kick back the piston. And with real ammo, I have had one double fire. At 25 yards, both holes were within 1/2 inch of each other. Wish I could do that all the time. Since then (approximately 1 year) no other problems. Much better than the Maadi (Egyptian AK) that I had before.

I have a VEPR-K AK-47 which cost more than twice as much as my SAR-1 and the SAR-1 is just as reliable.Try to buy one with 2001 or above after the serial no.they are much better Rifles than some of the old ones.HTH Good Luck!!
