the 25-06 is a .257 caliber bullet and the 6.5 is a .264 caliber bullet so the 6.5 can shoot bullets of a heavier weight then the 25-06 but the 25 can shoot at a higher velocity then the 6.5

And they are both considered "over-bore" for caliber, meaning hard on throats. Nevertheless, I'm fond of both. They are exceedingly accurate and hard hitting. Easy to reload, too.

    Keep off the Ridgeline

Thanks for the information, I have another related question, how does the 260 compare to the 25.06 and the 6.5 mm 06?
    Thanks,

The 260Rem is a 308Win or 7mm-08Rem necked down to 6.5mm (or a 243 necked up, same thing)
Just like the 308 vs the 30-06, it dosn't give up much velocity with the lighter bullets (80-120gr), but does fall behind when you get up into the heavy for caliber ones (155-160gr) due to lack of powder capacity.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

There was also a 6mm-06 wildcat... That aside, either of them, as will a .257 roberts, a .243 win, and a 6mm rem should all do what you're likely wanting from them. If it is purely for varmit hunting - go with the .220 Swift!

257 roberts cases run about 35 to 37 dollars a hundered, 25-06 brass runs about 25, 27 a hundered. If you can't find a source for 25-06 brass it ca be easily formed from 30-06 brass.
Someone once told me that the 257 roberts is the most effecient 25 cal round out there. I still like my 25-06 for two very sound reasons, It is exteremly accurate and it is easy on the shoulder. I can load it up for big game or down for varmits.

If you ain't got a sense of humor you got no business bein here!
