.43 Spanish value? and others
Saw a .43 spanish remington rolling block today, with bayonet, 80 rounds of reloadable brass, in good condition with some nicks, light bore pitting, tight action, all matching, 50% bluing, $399. What do you think?
Also saw a US rolling block, unsure of model, perhaps 1867, w/ bayonet but no cleaning rod, $500. Thoughts?
Dutch Beaumonmt, poor condition with almost no finish left, refinished stock, no bayonet, great bore, $200.
1895 Steyer long rifle, straight pull that is, 8X50R, $200. What would you say the best deal of the lot is if any?

Jon, IMHO the first RB would be perhaps the best value, considering the brass, bayonet, etc. Any RB in decent condition under $400.00 is , in my opinion, worth considering. They do keep escalating in value . Emery

I'll probably go with the spanish then. I don't have a rolling block yet. Same shop has a nice 1917 sporter Enfield with scope for $100 or so which I might also look at. I don't get into sporters much but could use a highpower scoped rifle cheap, as I am thinking of doing some deer hunting next season... naturally i could use a gun with open sights but never having hunted (at least for deer) I think I'll start with the scope. And it is a fairly nicely done sporter, though I might refinish the stock as the finish is flaking, and if it shoots well have it reblued as the finish is a bit thin. We'll see. As it still has a full length barrel, that little restoration demon might surface someday if I find a stock set.
