SPANISH DESTROYER CARBINE 9MM PARA. HISTORY/INFO??

i know that they exist, i have set one aside for purchase at the shop. its a MAUSER style bolt action carbine in 9mm parabellum with a detachable pistol style magazine inserted were the floorplate would be. i know other GB members own similar examples. i have handled a few in the past.

i looked through 17 referance books and can only find one referance in R.L. WILSON price guide. no pictures, no country of origin, no history, info, specs, etc...

the gun is in NRA EXCELLANT++ condition. it has perfect high shine deep color bluing. the wood is incredible. its not a standard grade stock, it looks like a high grade custom piece with traditional MAUSER lines. the gun is in 97% condition.

i found spare magazines in the TRIPLE K catalog. normaly i can fill a file folder with information, specs, pics, examples on GB auction, etc...

i have come up almost empty. please be of assistance. best regards, mike.

  Yeah, cute little weapons, imported en mass a few years back. Used by the Spanish police after WWII. 9mm Bergmann (AKA Largo). Same as Astra 400 ammo. One of the Petersen "Surplus Weapons" soft covers had them. Out of print "Guns Of The World" had photo and brief description. I think "Small Arms of the World", Vol VII had it. Also W.H.B. Smith's "Book of Rifles" had a line or two.

  Actually SaxonPig, they did make some in 9mm Parabellum. A friend has one. It uses a different magazine that is a double stack instead of the 9mm Largo single stack. I think the 9mm Parabellums are not nearly as common as Largo.

  Actually, the Destroyer is a neat little plinker. Not really powerful enough for hunting, but a handy little fungun. Sort of a bolt action version of the M1 Carbine.

  its is marked "9mm PARABELLUM" clearly on the reciever. condition is astounding. i just cannot understand the complete and total lack of information on this gun. the price is right, the gun is nice, but my file remains relativly empty. you would think that at least one book in my referance library would shed some light on the subject. best regards, mike.
  RLDOWNS3, it appears, according to your referenced page, that this is one of the little seen, rare variations. i will try to post some pics later to demonstrate what i mean when i describe the guns condition as amazing. it never fails, i buy something chaep, as a lark, and its some oddball, little known variant. everyone should check out the above mentioned sights, they are informative and unique. best regards, mike.

  mrmike, does your rifle look like this one? It is in very nice shape, but it sounds like yours is a little nicer. Mine has one ugly ding on the barrel, otherwise about 98%.
  
  In the Guns Illustrated 1994 there is an article on the Destroyers by Charles W. Karwan. He mentions the occasional carbine chambered for 9mm Para and for 38ACP/Super.   yes, thats what the gun looks like, but with a high gloss, showy, bold grained stock. i will gather a summery of makings on the gun, and post the info with pics for all to see. thanxs guys. best regards, mike.
