Nikko Shotgun
I have a Nikko shotgun, model 199 that I need help identifing. The firearm is deeply engraved with 100% coverage of the receiver which is silver with a gold crown inlaid on the barrel release lever and with a gold adjustable trigger. It is a 12 gage o/u. I have found info on the Model 5000 which were sold as Golden Eagle but nothing on the Model 199. The engraving on the firearm I have is much deeper and more detailed than the ones pictured as Golden Eagles. Can anyone provide any info or direct me to a source?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me anything about a Model 2500 O/U Skeet Gun 12 Ga. 2 3/4" chamber. That and Made in Japan are the only markings on the gun. 0 -
I've watched this post for some time and hoped someone would have an answer for your question.
I can say this about Nikko... They make/made a fine shooter. Models don't seem to be a big issue as they aren't collected by anyone that I'm aware of. At the same time they seem to be right in the pack along with other quality upland or sporting guns.
I'd have to say that your gun will be very much like the quality German pieces that have no name and little history. Value will be dependant on quality, and the quality will speak for itself.
Sorry not to have more, but that's sometime the way things go in the gun world. Put a name like Browning on the gun and everyone would know exactly what it is.

I forgot to add... Even though a quality piece, the origin will detract from the value compared to a German gun. Sorry.0 -
Nord: Thanks for the response. I understand the status of a german vs Jap firearm. It is a very fine shooter and I plan on keeping it. I am just curious about it given the fine level of engraving. It has caught the eye of many at my gun club who shoot very expensive trap and skeet guns and none of them know the history.

Didn't Nikko make the 101 for Winchester?

bama; Yes they nade the 101 as well as firearms for many other shotgun and rifle manufacturers incuding Weatherby.

There is a Golden Eagle collectors group based in Calif. They might have info on other Nikko guns. I don't have an address, might be worth a search though.
Church notice: The bean supper will be held Tues. in the fellowship hall. Music will follow.0
