CZ 52 Slide Release
Just bought a CZ 52 for $110 from a surplus dealer with my C&R. I open the box and pull it out, rack the slide back to see what the bore looks like, and now I can't get the slide to release.
I keep pulling down on the slide release "button" on both sides of the receiver and nothing. The springs on the slide release return it to the original position. I can't get the magazine to release either as the pressure of the slide appears to be holding the mag in.
The pistol is oiled. What am I doing wrong?
I feel silly, thanks for the help.
Best regards,Rich

The two buttons on the side are for the field stripping of the pistol. You should be able to drop the magazine with the slide back; the release for the magazine is at the bottom of the grip. You then should be able to pull back the slide, and it will close.
If you can't pull out the mag, try pulling back on the slide and trying at the same time to pull out the mag.
Check out www.makarov.com - they have instructions in PDF format, and other goodies for the CZ-52.0 -
The CZ52 doesn't have a slide release lever that can be activated by use of the thumb. It does have a hold open lever, but it doesn't have an extension to use your thumb. Remove the mag from the gun, (the mag release is at the base of the grip). Then simply pull back on the slide. The slide will go back forward all the way on its own. There are replacement slide releases available for the CZ52 that do give you the ability to operate them like most other pistols. LRARMSX@MCHSI.COM 0
