Where can I find a good formula for breaking in a new 22/250 barrel? What about these specialized bullets for this purpose? Anyone with experience with these break in bullets? I believe Tubb's makes a version.

Hmmmm! Did'nt someone (intelligent) once say "The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked" My apologies for being curious!

The problem with your question is that it has been asked many times, (too many, probably), over the past year alone. There are as many opinions on this subject as posts.....maybe more. Go to the "Search" feature and type in "barrel break in" and take your time......you'll be surprised at the number of "intelligent" posts there are for you to pass your own opinion on..............Good Luck!

IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IN GROUP SIZE AND TYPE OF RIFLE; BENCH REST = SHOOT/CLEAN/SHOOT/CLEAN UP TO 100 TIMES; SPORTER RIFLE 1" GROUPS OK= SHOOT 20 SHOTS/CLEAN AND GO FROM THERE. 0 -
And some of us think the break in ritual is just that a ritual that adds nothing to accuracy or barrel life. Lots of opinions and no hard facts. forgive Saxon, he seems to be having a hard week and is being unnecessarily hard on folks. Not characteristic of him.

BTW, the "special bullets" are used in a methiod best refered to as FIRE SCRAPPING your barrel, because it's the last thing you want to try before buying a new barrel for your rifle.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
I thought I'd try the barrel break in thing a while back. Shot the first 5 rounds, cleaned after each one. Hardly a trace of copper on my patches. Got home, ran a patch through and let it sit overnight. Came out greener than beer on St. Patty's day. Make the think twice about whether I was actually accomplishing anything at the range, other than making my time in between shots excessively long. 0 -
When I got my new M1A, I did the Song & Dance act that SA said to do, to break in a new BBL, A friend got a new M1A, he did not do the Song & Dance act, Cant see any difference when you shoot, Just I can shoot better than he can [:D]
