Russian 7.62X54 Ammo
I just sportsterized a 1891 Mosin Nagant. Upon fireing this rifle I notice very little recoil. In fact I found the round to have less recoil than most rifle cartridges I have ever fired. Is the Russian ammo really tame,(lightly loaded) or is the 7.62X54 a tame round?

The original 91 M-N has a 29" barrel and weighs something like 9 lbs. Because of the barrel length and weight, lot of the APPARENT recoil is cut.
Try shooting some 180 grain machine gun loads in a 1938 Carbine, ( 20" barrel, 7.5 lb weight ), and I'll guarantee it will ring your bell!0 -
How do you like the 91. I just got a 44 and I was wandering which one was better. 0 -
Recoil wise, the 91 is more pleasurable to shoot than the m44.
