GUN IDENTIFICATION AND VALUE

I HAVE A REMINGTON ARMS PISTOL / UNITED STATES PROPERTY. IT IS A 45 CAL. THE NUMBERS ON THE GUN ARE 1924030 AND M1911A1 AS BEST AS I CAN TELL. I WAS WANTING TO GET IDENTIFICATION AND VALUE IF POSSIBLE.

  It would appear that your Model 1911-A1 .45 ACP pistol was manufactured in 1944 by Remington Rand. The value will depend entirely on condition.

  Vern, welcome to Gun Broker. We have some hard core 1911 Government folks on our board who can tell you much more than what I know about these pistols, but Remington made around 1 million of these 1911A1's during WWII so these pistols are not really rare. What is rare are excellent to new condition examples and pistols in these grades are eagerly sought after by collectors. A Remington 1911A1 in excellent or better condition would retail in the $700 to $800 range and new in the box examples would bring even more if they are truely exceptional and had the shipping carton and paper work. In run of the mill condition- usually arsenal reworked, re finished and packed in a plain Kraft box- these guns typically sell for around $400 to $500. As condition drops off the value also falls away as there become many more pistols in "average" condition available...although nearly any example will bring $300 due to its value as a shooter.
