Mini 14 question

Does anyone know of a source for a mini 14 flash suppressor or muzzle brake combo that fits the 197 series?

How do I tell if my Mini 14 is preban? It is SS, Marked "Ruger Ranch Rifle .223 Cal" SN 187-616XX

Check with Bushmaster. Thier catalog had M14 parts but I dont remember if they have what you want. Also, even if the suppressor is incorporated with the brake, its illegal on your 197 series.

Cabellas for one sell a muzzle brake/H&K front sight combo. It is a major improvement over Rugers front blade. It is not difficult to install yourself. I even had mine beadblasted(stainless) to match the matte finish of the barrel. There is also one called a bird cage type that I have seen in mags. but don't recall where.

Why is it illegal to install a flash supressor???? If he has no other "evil" features on his rifle it would NOT be illegal to do.

I agree with vicg1 that I don't think it would be illegal to install it. Even if you put in a high cap mag you still would only have two of the evils

In california it is illegal to install a flash suppresor on a stock Mini-14, only a Muzzle Brake is legal to install.
