Remington 7400 Question
Just bought a nice Remington 7400 in .270. How can I determine the date of manufacture??

How are these rifles? I have owned a Browning bar for years
with never a problem,Now i have my eye on a 7400 carbine But many
people have told me they are not reliable.What do you think?0 -
the 7400 is a good gun, the one that you have to watch for is the older 742 0 -
The 7400 is quite reliable; however, the older 740 and 742 models are known as "jam-sticks". 0 -

I had a 7400 which was a nice rifle for short range (100 yards). I traded it for a 700 due to its lack of long range accuracy. I regret ever getting rid of it.

I've had to work on a lot of Remington Automatic Rifles. Remington cannot seem to produce a good centerfire automatic. Seems to be a problem with the chamber. The least little corrosion in the chamber will lock up a fired case and cause (1) extractor destruction, or (2) case rim destruction. I no longer buy or pawn Remington automatic rifles for more than $75. due to these problems. As long as you don't hunt or go afield with it, it seems to work fine on the wall. I know lot's of people will raise hell, but these are my honest observations, so there! 0 -
Have to agree,Jam Stick is the right word for it!I swore to never own another,I prefer the pumps new or old.The last 06 semi I had allmost made it into the river!Most Jamming piece of.....firearm I ever owned,they seem like a dog that just will not break from deer chasin...there is only one solution...Just my 2 cents... 0
