In my view that is too expensive for an elsie that has been re-blued and restocked. Such a gun is a shooter and not a collectable, however I have been seeing similar guns at similar asking prices. I personally would not pay that or near it, but if you want it badly offer $500.

My heros have always killed cowboys.

Probably too much. I've got two on the wall that I had done in the Ithaca custom shop almost 20 years ago. As far as I'm concerned they're priceless. As far as anyone else... Maybe $400.00. Then again, I don't care.

I'd have to take exception with the other posters as to value related to my local market. You didn't say what grade it is, , if it is a Hunter Arms, how it's choked, and if the restock matches (with correct checkering). In my area, a Hunter Field in the condition you described is worth the price as a shooter. After all, where are you going to find a 16 double the quality of a Smith at that price?
