Laser Sights

I own a sig 229 in .357 sig , I was wanting to put a laser sight on. I was wondering which was the best, crimson trace or lasermax ? All replies are appreciated..

  I have a para ordnance tac four .45 that I picked up several years ago when they came out. I've been trying to find some laser sights for it. I keep bugging crimson trace and they have told me to kick rocks. Anyone have some suggestions----thanks

  If the Crimson Trace laser is the one that replaces a grip panel, that is the best one for your application. (no need for a special holster) For the Beretta there is a company that makes a laser that replaces the guide rod. No such item for a revolver obviously. And they are very expensive.

  The laser that replaces the guide rod in the beretta is made by LaserMax and run ~$300. I saw one in a Glock and it was NICE. No need for special holster either. Grip panel laser for the Revolver is the only way I know to go without special holster, but I have never seen one in use. Safariland makes a special holster for use with the tactical light/laser that mounts under the frame in front of the trigger guard. I dont think they make them for revolvers.

  When I bought one of the first laser sights, everyone said "Wow, is that neat!". But, after attempting to use it under various light conditions, I have come to the conclusion that, for most of us, they are of little value. The environment is either too bright, or too dark, or the laser itself is too distracting, for it to be useful.
  
  There may be rare conditions under which SWAT team members and prison CO's might find them effective. (These folks buy them with OUR money, not their own, so it really doesn't matter if they get a good return on them.)
  
  3-dot and radium sights are a better choice if you ever really plan to use a handgun in Close Encounters of the Worst Kind.

  You left out another "Practical" application for lasers.
  You can have a ball, teasing your cat and have him chase

  Don't bother wasting your money on the laserlyte (multiple reticle pattern). It's the only laser I've tried and they all broke (mounted on two 9mm and a .45acp) the first time out. They aren't compact either. I hear/read good things about lasermax. I now use flashlights (12ga and .45 have Surefires and 9mm and .223 have Insights) and night sights (meprolight and trijicon). Insight makes a flashlight/laser combo called the M6. I don't know the brand laser used, but I'm happy with the M3. They are rail mounted and have no business being in a holster[:)]. Please post your experience, if any, with the Crimson or the Lasermax. Thx and GL!

  Put a lazermax in my Glock 20 and liked it so much I had to get one for my Glock 19. Awesome unit and brighter than most lasers I've seen. Check out their web sight http://www.lasersightsusa.com/ I would highly reccommend them. No sighting in to do just pop it in and go.
