Need a gun crank - Mauser 3000 in 300 WinMag
I need a hardcore gun crank. I have been looking for a Mauser Model 3000 in a .300 Win Mag. I am beginning to think that I won't be able to afford it as it is so rare. Mauser imported these rifles from 1971-74. They came in .243, .30-06, .308, .270, 7mm Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag and .375 H&H. I have the 06, 7mm and .375. I've seen all the others in various conditions/prices except for the .300 Win Mag. And I have been looking. Exhausting all avenues, it's now an obsession. HELP!
Was it a mis-print in the gun book?
Any help is appreciated.

Hello James, well I suppose I am a pretty gun cranky guy and a keeper of odd gun knowledge. I had to dig out of an old Mauser Catalog from Mauser Amerika of Fraiser, Michigan. This was another branch of Bauer Firearms who sold the Mauser Model 66 (not a 660) which I own in .30-06 with a .25-06 extra barrel. I am a true believer in the superiority of the Mauser design. According to the 1973 catalog the Mauser 3000 was available in .243, .270, .308, and .30-06. These cost $197.45. The Model 3000 Magnum was listed as available in .375 H&H and 7mm Rem. Mag. at $229. No where is the .300 Win Mag. mentioned. I have seen references to a .300 Win Mag. available in at least two of the so called firearms "price guides", but I've never seen an example and the literature I have from the importer makes no mention of such a caliber being offered in any Mauser rifle imported at that time. You'll just have to use your own judgement as to whether or not these rifles in .300 Mag exist. I hope that you find one.

Mark,
That helps me alot. Now I know that the price guides may be mis-printed since I doubt the catalog would leave out a popular caliber.
I will keep searching. Thanks.0 -
I have a left handed 3000 in 375 H&H that I purchased in a closeout in 1975. These rifles were built by Heym for Mauser. I paid $189 for mine new. 0
