LEE PRO 1000 YES OR NO...

Been looking at these, haven't used or know about them.
I need some help on this one. 38/357 and 45 acp.for now.
I won't be loading all that much,I just hate to load the
pistol rounds on a single stage! Thanks,for Any Help!

  Funny, I have two Lee 1000's, two Dillon's, one RCBS, and an old Pacific single stage. They've all been excellet presses.
  
  Measure twice, cut once.

  for pistol only I'd reccomend the dillon square deal B.much more reliable,IMHO

  I have two.One for .223s the other for .38 & .357 not great, but good the two together cost less than a Dillon.

  No! No! No! Deposited mine in the bottom of Lake Superior. Wouldn't give it away. Bought a Dillon 550B. Should have done that in the first place and could have picked up a lot of Dillon extras for what I wasted on the Lee.

  The primer system is the weak point on the Lee 1000. I have several in different cartridges and have learned to live with the primer system. For the money, they work well enough that I have never bought anything else. The positives of automatic indexing and powder only when a case is present help offset the primer system. The ability to dump a box of primers in the tray instead of having to load primer tubes is another plus that makes the occasional malfunction of the primer system worth it. I have case feeders on all of mine as well, and that speeds loading.
  
  I am waiting for some reloader manufacturer to offer a progressive press using the RCBS strip primer system. Lee tends to be progressive, but apparently hates RCBS so probably would not use the strips even if a license agreement were possible. (I am not sure a license agreement would be needed for the machine to accept the strips. The strips are the patented device, not the press.)

  NO-never got mine to run right, Lyman T-mag with extra turrets for each cal. works for me.

  I have to agree with the Honorable Judge Colt. The primer feed parts are cheap plastic and destroy very easily. I bought a LEE 1000 when it first came out [V]to do pistol ammo and had to send it back twice for repair. It never would work right so I asked for my money back. When loading 9mm, because there is a lot of powder in that small case, the centrifugal force of the shell plate when it rotated would throw some of the powder out of the case. The powder grains would get in the primer feed and gum it up and then the little plastic parts would destruct. They may have corrected this but it was poor engineering.
  
  I have two other LEE progressives and they work great. Everyone raves about Dillon and that will likely be my next purchase.
