norinco 56s-1 ak-47
I have a norinco ak-47, model 56s-1. The bayonet lugs have been ground off. It looks like a professional job. Can anyone tell me why? Does it have something to do with preban, postban? The person I purchased it from says it was that way when he purchased it new.

One reason could be that they wanted to mount a light or a lasser on the barrel and the bayonet lug was in the way. [8D]

I saw this being done to some of the guns that were sold with thumbhole stocks trying to comply with post-ban legal requirements. I have an Egyptian AK thumbhole that was cutdown so that a bayonet could not be mounted. 0
