Rings and bases

What is the difference in quality between leupold and burris rings and bases. Have a chance to purchase burris rings and bases now or wait to order leupold. Thanks for the advice

  is it ok to use steel rings on a weaver style aluminum base. the searching i have done on the net is all over the place. some say the stronger metal will trash the other. some say its a good match because the steel will bite into the aluminum. then there are these durasight alumisteel mounts by cva that use a mix metal of some kind that is stronger than aluminum but dont rust like steel . i just wanna upgrade some of my real cheap aluminum rings. id like to change to the steel warne or weaver grand slams rings but since most of my guns have aluminum weaver bases im wondering if i need to change the bases at all. in other words if i just replace the rings to steel is it worth it.

  If you are speaking of the dovetail front, windage rear, type rings bases,..there is no discernable difference between Burris, leupold, and Redfield. Sit them side by side, without the packages, and you will quickly lose track of which is which. JMHO
  
  why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

  For my money, Talley rings and bases are the most bullet proof made. But JustC is correct there is not a nickles worth of difference between Burris and Leupold.

  Carefull when interchanging older Redfield bases with other companies rings. The side screws on many had a different taper-radius & head size. When the screw was tightened, it cut into the ring base and could weaken the 'grip' at the 'ear'.
  Have even seen the ring 'ear' pull down & away from the ring pushing against the base. Recoil could eventually pull the ring up off the base.
  
  Three thing that upgraded many Burris base & rings some time ago.
  1. Torx Plus screws have been used. Improved Torx head.
  2. A recoil stop is on some rear bases.
  3. Rings have a grip paper on the caps.
  
  The Signature ring is one of the smartest, strongest, and best rings you can buy.
  Have asked for it in a 'magnum' size so it's easier to sell. Don't let size fool you.
  Sako & Tikka have intro'd the Opti Lock which is similar, but not adjustable.
