Why should I get an FFL ?

I have recently sold a number of personal firearms (rifles and shotguns) on this site. I sell a lot of items (non firearms, of course) on eBay. I am wondering if I should spend the effort, time, and money to get an FFL. What advantages would it give me ? Are there any drawbacks to having one ? How about "record keeping" ... does it become too much of a hassle ?
Just thinking about it and thought that you folks would be an great source of info. You've been great so far. Thanks in advance for comments ... positive or negative.
