ruger p85 mags
How do you tell if a mag is a ruger factory mag? I can't recall ever seeing any markings of any kind on any of the mags I have ever seen for a p series pistol. How do you tell it's factory and not aftermarket? Thanks

usually there is the ruger logo inprinted on the bottom of the floor plate of the mag, I have in stock in my shop a few for the p85 with the logo on them...

3 holes in the back or 4 holes in the side.
Thare are some aftermarket mags that have 4 holes in them now, they are closer together than the factory mags.
My post is referring to hi-caps only.

Not sure how helpful this is but, all three of my high cap p89 mags have no holes at all, well except the locking hole. No round counting holes. These are not factory mags. Hope it helps, I would love to have factory high cap for this gun!!

My buddy as a P89 with two mags he bought new. They are 15 rounders and have a warning sticker on the side, but no other markings. So are the Ruger emblems just on the floorplate of newer mags, and the older hi cap mags are unmarked? I'd kinda like a couple of hi cap mags for a p85 but can't tell what is factory and what is not. Also, what do factory 15 round mags bring now? Thanks for your answers guys. 0 -
I am sitting here looking at 2 of the 3 Ruger P85 mags that I have. My P85 was bought in the first or second year of manufacture, before they were recalled. That is why I have 3 because they sent one back with the pistol when you sent it in for the recall. You sent it in with no mag and it came back with one as a bonus!
On the back of the mags are 3 round holes so as to look at the primer end of the shell. There will be a 5, 10, & 15 beside the holes as you go down the mag. On the front of the mag there is a sorta square hole about 1 & 1/2 to 2 inches from the top. The bottom of the mag will have nothing on it but there will be a round spot that sticks out which you can push in. It is the bottom of the mag well spring. There are no Ruger symbols on my 15 round P85 mags.
Hope this helps.0
