Since I can't see the whole gun I have to interpolate as best I can...

274 is most probably the serial (If you can call it that).

Don't clean up the gun, other than for a light oiling.

I believe the gun is a lower end trade gun from what I can see. It's almost certainly damascus, but I can't see it in the photo.

And it's not as old as you might think. Not more than 120 years, and probably newer. (I don't have Greener records).

Value is certainly more than a Belgian trade gun, but not in the arena of the more expensive hammerless Greeners.

If the number on your shotgun, is in fact the serial number, it appears to have been made substantially prior to 1878! This might have a positive affect on the value?
Perhaps it would be prudent to get a appraisal from a dealer who specializes in older English sporting arms/shotguns.

The serial number of all W W Greener double barrel shotguns can be found on the top of the fore end, the top of the action flats and on the underside of the barrels. This means the barrels and fore end have first to be removed from the stock and action. All three numbers should be identical. The number engraved on the furniture, i.e., metal tang behind the trigger guard is the serial number but can be worn so that not all numbers are shown and because numbers here are engraved numbers 3, 5 and 8 can be confused with one another and also 1 and 7. If you chect all the numbers and let me know what they are I may be able to help. If the serial number is only three figures it woudl indicate a gun made in the late 1850s! probably a muzzle loader or pin fire. If it is not one of these then send photos to gng@wwgreener.com and I will try to identify it.
