Scope for 17hmr?
I've decided on a Ruger 77/17 and would like some input on scope selection. I've got an unused Leupold 3X9X40, but should I go with a less expensive Tasco, Bushnell, etc., which would do the same job? Optics? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

All i can say is get the best optics you can afford, especially for a rife as nice as your Ruger and for a a super accurate round like the .17hmr. If the Leupold is just "sitting around" i would put it on the Ruger and have fun. 0 -
Go with what you have on the Ruger. It will make a really good combo. I bought the savage 93 bull barrel combo an am pleased with the simmons scope but I only paid $180+ wholesale for the whole outfit. The Ruger is a much better gun so if I had a boughten a Ruger, I would have boughten a higher end scope. My 2 cents worth say use the Leupold 3X9X40. I believe you will be pleased. 0 -
suggest a scope called the sweet seventeen i think by bsa that has the 17 rimfire ballistics graduated in the scope, enjoy 0 -
I got a BSA Sweet Seventeen scope from Midway USA for around $62. It is a 2X7X32 with target turret can front parralax correction for the >17 HMR ballistics, this thing is sweet.Check it out at http://www.midwayusa.com product number 341304

Put on the Leupold. I was at the range today and the guy next to me was shooting the heck out of the target with his .17 cal from 200 yds so don't skimp on the scope or the potential of your rifle won't be realized! 0
