What can be shot in 7.62 Nagant Revolver?
I have the opportunity to get one for less than $50.00; the reason (I'm told) is that the owner can't find any ammo for it. I heard somewhere that the .32 S&W can be run thru it, like a .38 special in a .357. Is this true? Where can one get ammo for the Nagant revolver? Thanks for any replies.

Which Nagant? There are a couple of different ones out there. I have a Swede and a Russian, but they use different cartridges. The Russian is the unusual gas-seal design.
Cartridges are available for both. I think Fiocchi is still making new ammunition for both; could be mistaken there. Still find Russian surplus at gun shows but the Swedish stuff is a little more scarce.
You can reload for the Russian using some kind of .32 brass I think; you don't have the gas seal effect but it is cheaper than buying correct original ammo. I'm sure someone else her can provide details on the correct procedure.
I have heard a lot of horror stories about the after market cylinders for the Russians. If I recall I once followed a link from the Sociedad Largo site, of all places, to a site dealing with the Russian Nagant revolver, and it had posts from folks who tried to modify their revolvers to function with the aftermarket cylinders and wound up with a gun that wouldn't function with either cylinder.
Look before you leap. But if the Russian is in good shape,and appears to function ok, its worth the $50.

I have not tried this yet but my Russian Nagant cylinder will chamber the .32-20 round (.32 WCF) but it is too long and the bullet sticks out beyond the end of the cylinder. It looks like you could cut off some of a lead round and fire it. If that worked out, the cases should fire-form and be good for reloading. 0 -
Redceders is correct; Fiocci ammo for the Nagent is available (somewhat expensive, but available). It's a neat round, the bullet is recessed into the case so the gas seal actually works! That doesn't happen with the S&W ammo.

Sorry, but I find it difficult to believe that you can just drop cylinders into these old revolvers. The problems that have been reported involve the fitting necessary to make the cylinders function.
Can you tell me what page on that site the cylinders can be found. I would like to go look at the ad, but I don't want to wade through the whole site to find it.

Lee makes a set of reloading dies for the Nagant using 32-20 brass. I have a set, but haven't got around to reloading any yet. May have to shorten the brass up a tad, depending on bullet used. Emery

well i shoot 32-20 and just push the lead down a hair...enough to clear....not telling you to do this but i have done this for years...i only use the 32-20 ammo made for the pistols not the rifle stuff... 0 -
