Shipping carton source?

Neal, At one time the Civilian Marksmanship Program <odcmp.org> had such boxes for sale. I am not sure if they are still available. I am faced with the same problem and have begun to use the cheap, rigid plastic, foam rubber lined gun cases. They can sometimes be found at the discount stores for $10 or a little more. Considering the risk of damage in shipment, I consider the little extra cost as money well spent. Herschel

The various carriers, including USPS, have a variety of boxes they sell as a profitable little sideline, although I do not know if they have any which are appropriate for your use. I buy my boxes from Uline (http://www.uline.com/) and while I ship a different sort of item using much smaller containers, their 200 pound test box line includes (among many possibilites for your application) a 36x6x6 number for $0.88 each (min order 25) plus shipping. I've used this company for several years and can recommend both their product quality and speed.

I've used the Uline people as stated by Iconoclast and found this one to be helpful also. http://www.evidentcrimescene.com/cata/evid2/evid2.html

I know, it sounds weird but you find what you need in the strangest places sometimes.

    Regards.

Brownell's sells shipping boxes for firearms, page 197, catalog #55. They sell a "Master Carton" of five boxes, five outer sleeves and a roll of sealing tape; not cheap.

If you're frugal like me (read cheap), scrounge around at department stores, hardware stores, etc. They throw away many usable cartons that are suitable. Emery

I have it for you. Go to any big gun shop (call first) and ask if you can have some of the old gun boxes. They receive the guns they sell in boxes made for the purpose, and then put them up on the shelf and toss the boxes.
I get all I want for free.
